About
Hi, I'm Maddie.
I'm an AI and Automation Integrator, which is really a fancy way of saying that I spend a lot of time looking at repetitive tasks and asking, "Do we seriously have to keep doing this every single time?"

I stumbled into automation almost accidentally. My background started at Clearwater Marine Aquarium, where I worked in hospitality, gave tours and presentations, and created training materials. From there, I eventually detoured into human resources, which, if you've ever worked in HR, involves a lot of processes, policies, documentation, and doing the same things again and again.
There's never enough time to get everything done. Somewhere along the way, "work smarter, not harder" became less of a saying and more of a survival strategy.
My first real automation was tiny. A client was tracking invoices in a spreadsheet and manually emailing Finance every time a payment came in. I thought, There has to be an easier way to do this. There was. We added a checkbox that automatically sent the email. It saved maybe a minute at a time, but those little minutes add up.
That's still how I approach my work. I want to see what you're actually doing, where you click, where the information goes, who needs it, and, most importantly, why you do it that way. Then we figure out what could be easier.
And just because something can be automated doesn't mean it should be. I'm not interested in forcing a shiny new system on you when the tools you already have can do the job. I work with Google Workspace, Apps Script, Zapier, ChatGPT, Claude, and other tools to build solutions around the way you work, not the other way around.
I especially love working with nonprofits, conservation organizations, solopreneurs, and creative people. These are often people doing really meaningful or really creative work, and there's only so much time in the day. I'd much rather help them get the back-end stuff under control so they can spend more of their time doing the work they actually care about.
When I'm not working, I'm usually reading, trying a new recipe, spending time with my family, or getting outside. I love learning about killer whales and photo-identifying them when I travel to the Pacific Northwest, and closer to home, I participate in citizen science involving horseshoe crabs.
If you have a process that makes you think, "There has to be a better way to do this," tell me about it. You don't need to know the solution yet. That's the part we can figure out together.
